"[Edaily Reporter Park Soon-yeop] WAVUS (336060), a provider of integrated geospatial solutions, announced on the 25th that its CEO, Kim Hak-sung, has been elected as the 11th Chairman of the Korea Geospatial Industry Cooperative.

At the Cooperative's General Assembly held on the same day, Kim was elected as the new Chairman and will lead the organization for the next four years.

The newly elected Chairman Kim has taken the helm of the Cooperative, further demonstrating the trust and leadership he has earned within the industry 21 years after founding WAVUS, the only KOSDAQ-listed company specializing in the geospatial industry.

Chairman Kim stated that he will focus on strengthening cooperation and exchanges within the domestic and international geospatial industry while enhancing the competitiveness of member companies.

In particular, he plans to focus on △ expanding the utilization of geospatial information through digital transformation △ improving institutions through cooperation with government agencies and public institutions △ providing capacity-building training for officials from partner countries involved in overseas projects △ ensuring transparent decision-making through the Board of Directors △ revitalizing the Cooperative by strengthening its sustainable financial capabilities.

Chairman Kim said, “I sincerely appreciate the trust and support of our members. I will do my utmost to enhance the global competitiveness of Korea’s geospatial industry and create an environment in which our members can grow together.”

He added, “I will lead the Cooperative so that the geospatial industry can play a key role in the digital economy of the Fourth Industrial Revolution through innovation in geospatial technologies. I promise to listen carefully to the voices of member companies and establish practical support measures to ensure effective Cooperative operations.”

The Korea Geospatial Industry Cooperative is a business association under the Small and Medium Business Cooperative framework that promotes the development of the geospatial industry through cooperation among its 145 member companies.

As the geospatial industry is increasingly recognized as one of the nation’s key growth engines, Kim’s election as the new Chairman is widely regarded as a turning point that will further strengthen the role of the Cooperative.
