WAVUS, a leading provider of integrated geospatial platforms, has marked its 20th anniversary by appointing President Park Chang-hoon as Co-Chief Executive Officer, transitioning to a two-top leadership structure alongside CEO Kim Hak-sung and laying the foundation for a new leap forward.

On the 17th, WAVUS held its 20th anniversary ceremony at the Imperial Hall of the Eliena Hotel, attended by approximately 250 employees, to celebrate the company’s coming of age as a “20-year-old young adult.”

During the ceremony, WAVUS presented its corporate journey through a sand art performance, capturing the company’s sustainable growth and development in a deeply moving way.

Through the sand art presentation, WAVUS delivered the message that, just as it has built today through continuous challenges, it will not stop taking bold steps toward a better tomorrow. Congratulatory video messages celebrating WAVUS’s 20th anniversary were also delivered from various sectors.

In his commemorative address, CEO Kim Hak-sung said, “The past 20 years have been filled with the passion of all of us and countless deeply moving moments. We have achieved so much, grown significantly, and even entered the KOSDAQ market. The company’s growth has been possible entirely thanks to the passion and dedication of each and every one of you.”

He continued, “We are now moving toward 2030, and we have made an important decision to grow into a more innovative and sustainable WAVUS. Today, the company’s Board of Directors resolved to appoint President Park Chang-hoon as Chief Executive Officer.”

WAVUS has been recognized for its technological capabilities through projects that transformed Korea’s major national geospatial information systems, including the Korea Land Information System (KLIS), the National Land Information System, and the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, into the national geospatial platform K-Geo. Since its listing on the KOSDAQ market in 2022, the company has continued its rapid growth and has been establishing itself as a global integrated geospatial solutions provider.

Last year, WAVUS signed a contract with the Government of Ethiopia for the establishment of the Ethiopia Land Information Management System, securing a foothold to expand its geospatial information business into other African countries such as Tanzania and Tunisia. The company also acquired the GIS business division of Naver System, additionally securing capabilities to utilize aerial surveying, drones, and Mobile Mapping Systems (MMS).

In particular, with the appointment of Park Chang-hoon, one of WAVUS’s founding members and a key figure in building the company’s growth foundation, as the new Co-CEO, the company is expected to further strengthen its sustainable global competitiveness.

In his inaugural address, Co-CEO Park Chang-hoon reflected on WAVUS’s 20-year journey, saying, “The young people in their 20s and 30s who started this journey are now in their 50s with graying hair. Our workforce has grown from around 40 employees to approximately 270, and our revenue has increased from KRW 3 billion to KRW 50 billion.”

He added, “Over the past 20 years, individual capabilities have determined project outcomes and served as the greatest driving force behind the company’s growth. We will establish a corporate culture in which individuals and the company can grow together through enhanced technical capabilities and a systematic human resources management system.”

By fostering positive communication and empathy, creating more opportunities, and never hesitating before new challenges, WAVUS aims to shape its future with the same resilience that has defined its past.
