[Seoul=Newsis] WAVUS, a leading geospatial information platform company, announced on the 3rd that its cloud-based map collaboration service, Mappick-Gov, has obtained K-PaaS Open Cloud Platform Compatibility Certification.

According to the company, the certification award ceremony was held during the Open Cloud Platform Summit 2024, hosted at Soongsil University on the same day.

Mappick is a web-based service that delivers map creation capabilities traditionally available only through PC-installed software. Users can easily add or upload various datasets, including national geospatial information, to create customized maps. Whereas organizations previously had to build and operate their own systems for managing and utilizing geospatial information, Mappick enables users to access customized map creation services at only one-tenth to one-hundredth of the conventional cost. The platform eliminates the need for users to manage infrastructure independently and improves administrative efficiency through the automatic updating of highly utilized national open datasets.

K-PaaS is an open-source Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) developed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency (NIA) to enhance the competitiveness of Korea’s IT service industry. The K-PaaS Compatibility Certification verifies that a service supports various Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments and enables standardized service management.

According to WAVUS, the certification demonstrates that Mappick-Gov can operate seamlessly across platform environments provided by both domestic and international cloud service providers. Among all services currently certified under K-PaaS, Mappick-Gov is the only solution that offers customized map creation and collaborative sharing capabilities.

Upon completion of the final stage of the Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP) certification process, Mappick-Gov is scheduled to be launched on NAVER Cloud next month, with full-scale services to be provided to local governments and public institutions.

Kim Hak-sung, CEO of WAVUS, stated, “Based on our technical expertise in building interoperable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions, we plan to aggressively pursue cloud-based System Integration (SI) projects, including cloud-native transformation initiatives that are being actively promoted by the government.”
