Kwon Woo-seok, vice president of Wavus, explained the direction in which spatial information in the era of artificial intelligence should go out.

(Connect Daily = Reporter Kim Young-do) "In the past, we built a national system, made and delivered manuals with brochures, and supported them so that they could follow videos, but now we can get the information we need from MapPick-bot in real time."

When Wavus launched its subscription-type map collaboration service "Mappick" last year, it applied generative artificial intelligence technology to provide convenience for users to answer questions 24 hours a day, Vice President, Kwon Woo-seok emphasized the artificial intelligence-based digital spatial information world that Wavus aims for.

Vice President, Mr. Kwon explained the motivation for applying artificial intelligence technology, saying "We applied an artificial intelligence chatbot to provide a service that allows ordinary people without professional knowledge of geographic information (GIS) to easily utilize spatial information."

In building a technology-oriented system, the purpose of user convenience and utilization is the goal of building the system.

Launched in November last year, Mapick is a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription-type GIS platform service that allows anyone to easily create maps and share information, and has the advantage of being able to use them for business or personal work.

In particular, by applying the generative artificial intelligence-based Mapbot technology, it is highly scalable because it provides great convenience to users by efficiently performing tasks only by entering keywords desired by users.

"Currently, we are using artificial function technology so that users can learn user manuals to help them use the service," Vice President Kwon Woo-seok said. " We plan to open a service that can generate themed maps or statistics that users want with artificial   intelligence services specialized in spatial information soon."

It can be used for various purposes, such as analyzing administrative data built with artificial intelligence technology specialized in spatial information, displaying houses that have been aged for more than 30 years on a map, collecting vacant houses in rural areas, and automatically overlapping and analyzing data of different characteristics.

Recently, based on this technology, Wavus is expanding its business from the B2G market to various business content areas in the B2B market to the extent that start-ups preparing for the electric vehicle charging station business are being asked to create an optimal place using Wavus' map picks.

The easier use of spatial information based on artificial intelligence is expected to be a blue chip that can take the scalability of the market to various social areas, but as a result, the design of algorithms of artificial intelligence specialized in spatial information and securing reliable data are expected to determine service quality and competitiveness.

Vice President Mr. Kwon said, "As we have carried out a lot of digital public projects by  the government and local governments, we have seen that public officials'  administration related to  licensing such as  land and  construction is  frequent, and the experience  and professional knowledge of the  public officials in  charge are  needed," adding, "By  using artificial  intelligence technology specialized in spatial information, we will be able to increase our work skills in a faster time."

Laws related to licensing and ordinances may vary from one local government to another, requiring hard work and knowledge to find and compare one by one, but service development using Generative AI evolves to a level where accurate data can be obtained in a short time and optimized results can be produced through comparative analysis.

In particular, public officials are based on a two-year cycle of rotational work for both national and local positions, which inevitably requires a long period of experience and work knowledge to get used to the new job.

Vice President Mr. Kwon said, "In the future, the administrative manuals of the systems will also be immediately answered and provided to civil petitioners through standardized and learned artificial intelligence, but experts' fine tuning skills for errors and inaccuracies are essential. It is our role as an artificial intelligence prompter engineer to refine the questions and create the right answers."

Wavus is currently expanding its business model of building and providing artificial intelligence-based spatial information systems and receiving regular subscription fees.

It aims to provide a service that can maintain the best condition with only subscription fees, not just system development and construction, but continuous management according to the changes of the times.

Each local government has hundreds of millions of won to develop and build the system and requires considerable financial resources for management, but only initial setting costs and regular subscription fees can provide optimal services specialized from system construction to continuous management.

Vice President, Kwon Woo-seok said, "I am currently going to Jeonju Vision University to give lectures with MapPick," adding, "Although students' development capabilities are insufficient, we use MapPick to create various services such as garbage bin location information service and shelter priority service and carry graduation works to the Capstone   design competition."

Through MapPick, students also discover items using spatial information in their lives and develop services, and the reactions around them are unusual.

Vice President Mr. Kwon predicted the scalability of MapPick users, saying, " We plan to release a separate academy version to expand users as lectures from specialized high schools to various universities are flooding in."
